After working at the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, with a wide experience there, he is a practising lawyer specialized in design protection & enforcement, as well as commercial mediator and legal expert in the Intellectual Property (IP) field. He heads and coordinates the IP defence actions for different national and international companies. He served as Chair of the INTA Design Committee (2022–2023), and he is currently a member of INTA’s Board of Directors, where he also serves on the Planning Committee. In addition, he is a member of the Programming Advisory Council, and the Copyright Committee.
Has been heading the Spanish Group in the Design Committee of the 2016 AIPPI World Congress in Milan. He participated in the International Cooperation Program CP10 Working Group on “evidence of design disclosures on the internet,” promoted by the EUIPO on behalf of INTA, and he has been included in the EUIPO’s list of Auditors for “Quality Management Systems” for the 2019 SQAP audits (Stakeholder Quality Assurance Panels) on design invalidity decisions.
Also coordinates the Intellectual Property and Innovation group of the Spanish Association for Trademarks Protection & Enforcement (ANDEMA) and is member of its Board of Directors. He likewise acts as an advisor to various academic and business institutions and organizations. He was appointed as a European Union expert for the development, during 2022-2023, of the study “Comparative gap analysis to assess the level of approximation between the Sakpatenti’s Chamber of Appeals and the EUIPO’s Board of Appeal and provide suggestions to Sakpatenti to approximate practices between the two bodies.” and cooperation project IP Africa-Helpdesk promotion in Bulgaria (March 2024).
He is very much linked and committed to the business world and entrepreneurship, having been the President of the University Enterprise Foundation – FUNDEUN (2012-2018), President of the European Confederation of Young Entrepreneurs (YES) and received the AJEV Honorary Award “Young entrepreneur 2016” to his career path and the Forum Europe Gold Medal in 2013, Business Knowledge of Fundeun 2018 among other recognitions. He has been a member of the Expert Committee on Intellectual Property and Unfair Competition at the AIJU Technological Institute specialized in toys since July, 2011 and an advisor to various institutions and business and academic organizations.
Was named Honorific Professor of the University of Alicante in 2014 and is regularly invited as international speaker in several master programmes and Universities, such as ICADE, George Washington University, Magister Lvcentinvs, Design School of Madrid, Design School of Valencia-CEU San Pablo, UPV and Business Schools, such as Fundesem, the Academy of European Law, Artificial Intelligence Institute-IIA or Florida Universitaria. Regular speaker in a wide number of congresses and courses related to innovation and its protection or the development of entrepreneur values in many countries such as Spain, United States, Mexico, United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Honduras, El Salvador, Panama, Dominican Republic, etc.
He is author of numerous publications and monographs in the field of IP, particularly known because of his research and contributions to the protection and defence of the Designs and 3D Trademarks.
